COTABATO CITY, Nov 20 (PIA) -- Newly installed Cotabato City Police Office chief PSSupt Danny Reyes promised he will do all he can to address all illegal activities in the city.
Upon assumption to duty early this week, Reyes immediately paid a visit to Mayor Japal Guiani, Jr. to confer with him regarding the city security plan.
 
Directorate for Integrated Police Operations (DIPO) Western Mindanao head Atty. Felicisimo Khupersonally installed Reyes as head of the city police office vice PSSupt. Roberto Badian in a turn-over ceremony .
 
During the courtesy call, Reyes said, the city chief executive issued marching orders to address pressing problems affecting the safety and security of all citizens as well as the economic activities in the area.
 
Mayor Guiani strongly urged the police to focus and support the city government’s aggressive campaign against illegal terminals to ensure smooth flow of traffic, illegal gambling, proliferation of minors engage in sex trade and other unlawful activities, Reyes said.
 
Reyes said, the mayor has likewise ordered the strengthening of police visibility and foot patrol in secluded areas to deter crimes and attempts to sow fear and lawlessness in the city.
 
Expressing full support, Reyes said he has immediately issued a directive instructing police station commanders and members to give priority and focus on the issues and concerns raised by the city mayor.
 
“I have already issued a directive to conduct massive saturation drive, regular inspection of establishments being frequented by minors working as guest relations officer (GRO) in coordination with the city social welfare office palakasin ang police visibility,” he added.  COTABATO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 211, 2011) – A kidnapped Filipino gold and antique trader was found dead on Friday in a creek in Cotabato City in the southern Philippines, military officials said.

Officials said the body of Dominador Berdin, 52, was discovered by children playing near the Kinagatan creek in the village of Kalanganan. “The body belongs to Dominador Mendoza Berdin, who was kidnapped in Maguindanao province,” Army Colonel Noel dela Cruz, a spokesman for the 6th Infantry Division, told the Mindanao Examiner.

The epicenter was recorded 58 kilometers south and 43 degrees west from Dulawan, Cotabato and with a depth of 588 kilometers.

DAVAO CITY, Nov. 9 -- Agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office XI led by Director Emerson R Rosales conducted a buy-bust operation on November 8, at Mc. Arthur Hi Way, Matina, Davao City, netting a suspected big time drug pusher.

The suspect is identified as Malik Sanday Jr. Y Manungal alias Sanday, 30 years old, married and a resident of Tamuntaka, Cotabato City. He was arrested after selling two (2) big sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride otherwise known as “shabu” worth fifty thousand pesos (Php 50,000.00) to PDEA agent who acted as poseur buyer. The buy bust marked money bill with boodle money was also recovered from his possession and control.

 A policeman was slightly injured when an improvised explosive device went off in front of the Public Attorney’s Office along Sinsuat Avenue in Cotabato City around 9:30 a.m. Friday, a police report said.

Cotabato City police director Supt. Roberto Badian said the wounded cop was among his men assigned in the area as traffic police.
